You already did the hard part when you chose your archetype. Voice is how that archetype talks. The Hero sounds motivational and action-led. The Sage sounds measured and evidence-led. The Outlaw sounds blunt and a little dangerous. Same idea, three completely different sentences.

The problem is that most founders describe their voice in adjectives — and adjectives are exactly what an AI can’t use. “Approachable” is a vibe, not an instruction. To get a model to write like you, you have to make the voice mechanical.

What a usable voice spec contains

Four things, all concrete:

  • Three things you sound like — and three you never do. The bans matter more than the dos.
  • A word bank. The verbs and nouns your archetype actually reaches for. A Sage uses understand, evidence, insight. A Magician uses transform, unlock, possibility.
  • A banned list. The slop tells — “revolutionary,” “unleash,” “supercharge,” exclamation marks. This single list removes most of what makes AI writing read as AI writing.
  • One real sample line. A sentence that sounds exactly like you. A model imitates an example far better than it obeys a description.

The mistake: re-describing your voice every chat

Here’s where almost everyone leaks time and consistency. They open a fresh chat, write “make it sound professional but warm,” get something close-ish, edit it by hand, and do the whole thing again tomorrow. The brand drifts a little every time.

The founders pulling real leverage out of AI don’t re-explain themselves. They write the voice down once, as a file their AI reads before it writes a single word. Here’s the whole thing — keep it this short:

# Brand voice

Archetype: [primary] with a [secondary] streak.
We sound: [3 adjectives, e.g. measured, plain-spoken, quietly confident].
We never sound: [3 adjectives, e.g. hyped, salesy, corporate].

Words we use: [your language bank]
Words we ban: revolutionary, unleash, supercharge, game-changing, !

A line in our voice:
"[paste one sentence that sounds exactly like you]"

Rule: read this before writing anything for the brand.

Save that next to your work. Now every caption, cold email, and landing page starts from the same spine — and you’ve stopped editing tone by hand. This is the heart of how 1000xfounder works: your brand becomes a file your AI carries, not a feeling you keep re-describing.

The test

Paste three competitors’ taglines and yours into your AI with the instruction “strip the names — guess which is which from voice alone.” If it can’t tell yours apart, your voice isn’t built yet.

Consistency is the whole game

A brand that sounds different on every channel feels fragmented, and a fragmented brand is one customers can’t quite trust. The point of writing your voice down isn’t bureaucracy. It’s that your AI can now be the thing that keeps you consistent at a volume you could never hit by hand.
